Parish Based Health Ministry
Maintaining good health has much to do with issues of life-style, work satisfaction, social environment, relationships and spirituality as it does with our physical condition. The newly-initiated health ministry at St. Edward Parish recognizes the connection between health and faith and is seeking to identify realistic, meaningful ways in which we as a faith community can contribute to keeping each other well. This ministry is beginning to provide health education, offer support groups and continuing to offer services of various types to members of our community. Within the umbrella of PBHM are Ministers of Care, volunteers who bring the Church to those in need through visiting, bringing Holy Communion or providing transportation. They ae commissioned by the parish to bring the compassion and communion of the Church to the sick and the homebound.
We count on all parishioners to be part of this outreach by awareness of the needs around us and by responding to these in whatever was are possible. If you know someone in our parish who is sick or homebound and would like a visit, or if you would like to be part of this ministry, please call Joanne McNulty at the Parish Office (508) 359-2633.
Bereavement Support Group
Although working through grief is difficult, it can help to share your story with others in a caring, prayerful, and supportive environment. Many people have found that Support Groups help them to heal. The New Day Journal Support Program is a Journey from Grief to Healing. It is a program intended to offer support for any person who has lost a loved one.
If you are interested in joining a Support Group or would like further information, contact Joanne McNulty at (508) 359-2633.
